{"id":1445,"date":"2021-03-10T12:56:54","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T20:56:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cetinkayakoc.net\/blog\/?p=1445"},"modified":"2022-04-24T13:00:53","modified_gmt":"2022-04-24T20:00:53","slug":"trees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cetinkayakoc.net\/blog\/trees\/","title":{"rendered":"Trees"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>My son loves trees.<br>My discussion with him this morning: A tree does not seem to have a blob of brain similar to humans or animals, instead it seems to have a distributed mechanism of perception, analysis and decision making.<br>I would love to give 10 years of my life to understand the mechanisms by which a tree thinks.<br>This would be the question of \u201cHow\u201d.<br>Only after that, we can ask \u201cWhat does a tree think?\u201d, a question for which arts and literature may have better answers.<br>What about, \u201cWhy does a tree think?\u201d, a much harder question with deep philosophical underpinnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For humans and animals:<br>We barely understand the how.<br>We hardly understand the what.<br>We don\u2019t understand the why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I love trees, like my son, I loved climbing on top when I was a child, sitting and pondering under them when I was a man.
